INDUSTRY NEWS

ROCKWELL AUTOMATION BEGINS ACQUISITION OF ICS TRIPLEX, PROCESS CONTROL SAFTEY SOLUTIONS PROVIDER:  Rockwell Automation, Inc., has announced its intended acquisition of Industrial Control Services Group Limited (ICS) for 110 million, pounds sterling.  Headquartered in Maldon, UK, ICS Triplex provides engineering services, products, and solutions for industries that demand high-integrity critical control, such as oil and gas exploration, production, transportation and refining as well as chemicals and power generation.

Keith Nosbusch, chairman and CEO of Rockwell said of the acquisition, “ICS Triplex provides an important strategic fit for our rapidly expanding process control and safety solutions businesses.”  Adding that, “ICS customers in oil and gas, and other process industries will benefit from the breadth of Rockwell Automation’s product portfolio and solutions capabilities.”

Peter Mottershead, ICS Triplex executive, believes combining their capabilities “with Rockwell’s hundred years of experience and strengths as a global leader in industrial automation control and information systems, it should enable us to grow our business and better serve our customers.”  Completion of the transaction is planned for the third quarter of 2007.  For further information, visit: www.rockwellautomation.com

PMMI PROJECTS U.S. PACKAGING MACHINERY PURCHASES TO STABILIZE IN 2007:  The Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Institute (PMMI) the leading global packaging industry resource and trade association, announced the U.S. domestic demand for packaging machinery is projected to level off in 2007 to an estimated value of $6.27 billion. The data, based on PMMI’s U.S. Packaging Machinery Purchasing Plans Study, represents the collective voice of 468 decision makers responsible for 7,160 packaging lines in 1,073 plants located throughout all key U.S. market segments.

Since the economic downturn of 2001, North American Packaging Machinery Manufacturers have experienced strong growth over the last five consecutive years. PMMI reports that the 1% scenario for machinery purchases in 2007 reflects a cautionary reaction to the uncertainty of the U.S. economy, rather than decisions based on financial imperatives.  "After years of considerable capital equipment investment, it's clear this year that end users are in a 'wait and see' position," said Charles D. Yuska, president and CEO of PMMI. "However, with some markets hovering near 80% capacity, PMMI expects companies to continue to invest in more efficient packaging lines later in the year."

PMMI anticipates optimistic forecasts for the following market segments: Pharmaceutical/Medical (+2% to +4%), Foods (+1% to +3%), Chemical Products (+0% to +2%) and Converters, Printers, Others (+0 to +2%).  For further information, visit: www.pmmi.org.

PRESS RELEASE

Art Squared anonymous art sale returns on April 11

Art Squared is a key fundraising event presented by Louisville Visual Art Association and a unique opportunity to purchase original local art

Louisville, KY, [Date]– Art Squared returns to PUBLIC Gallery located at 131. W. Main Street on Saturday, April 11.  Louisville Visual Art Association launched the anonymous 8” x 8” art sale three years ago to benefit its flagship education program, Children’s Fine Art Classes (CFAC).  The event has quickly evolved into an incredible showcase of the generosity of local artists and an opportunity for the Louisville community to shop original art in a totally unique way. The public can view the art during a pre-sale exhibition, April 2-10, but art is signed only on the back, ensuring the anonymity of the artists until time of purchase at the sale on April 11.

Last year, Art Squared garnered over 200 pieces of original art contributed by local artists and raised over $33,000 for CFAC students, explains Porter Watkins, vice president of the LVAA Board of Directors. CFAC is a great avenue for local youth to receive high quality art education.  Art Squared helps make that program possible, as well as offering the perfect entry point for new art collectors.

LVAA will be hosting an Artists’ Reception on April 10 at PUBLIC Gallery.  Art Squared is sponsored by Angel’s Envy, crafters of fine bourbon finished in port barrels; Old 502, Kentucky’s only urban winery; and Falls City Brewing Co. The event is proudly supported by 89.3 WFPL News and the LVAA Board of Directors.

Old 502 makes handcrafted wine in downtown Louisville and believes in moving our city forward, says Eric Gurevich, Outreach Director of Old 502. We firmly believe that the arts are a pillar of our community and appreciate the opportunity to support the Louisville Visual Art Association and Art Squared for the second year running.
